Welcome graphic

The Children and Family Resource Center is dedicated to raising the awareness about Developmental Learning Disabilities (DLD). Approximately 20 percent of all children are diagnosed with Developmental Learning Disabilities, which are often misunderstood and the impairments resulting from DLD are hidden and silent. At first glance, children appear normal, but actually can be affected by several processing dysfunctions in academic areas: reading and comprehension skills, Written and spoken forms of communication, delays in speech and language skills, or Performing math calculations, demonstrating problem solving and the reasoning thought process and the use of proper social skills.
The simplest of tasks, which others take for granted, become a huge hurdle for children with DLD to overcome. Children with DLD have enormous potential for learning; what they need are different educational techniques and methods of interactions that require a unique approach to removing the boundaries and isolation many children face everyday.
